BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending April 23, sophomore softball player Kari Bettenbrock earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"This is a great honor for Kari and for Indiana Softball," Indiana head softball coach Stacey Phillips said. "As a program, we work diligently on academic priority and Kari has taken this even further with her work ethic and continued success in the classroom. Kari is a competitor not only on the softball field, but in every endeavor of her life. This is not surprising and very rewarding for her hard work!"
Bettenbrock is a sophomore Exercise Science major from Terre Haute, Ind.
"Kari is one of the easiest student-athletes to work with at IU," academic advisor Jen Brand said. "She is always prepared and organized, which has allowed her to achieve great success in both school and softball. Kari always finds a way to get it done, whether this means working with tutors or taking classes during the summer, she is willing to sacrifice for success. She is one of the most goal-oriented students I have worked with and there is no doubt in my mind that she will reach each one of those goals that she has set for herself."
