• The Hoosiers will get another look at Big Ten competition this weekend as they face Penn State and Virginia in a double dual meet, Nov. 18-19 in State College, Pa.
• The meet will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 19. There will be no live results available for the meet.

• Indiana swimmers will take part in the Georgia Invitational (Dec. 2-4), as well as the USA Swimming Winter Nationals (Dec. 1-3).
About the Hoosier Women
• The Hoosier women are currently 2-2 on the season with wins over Kentucky and Michigan.
• The Indiana women's swimming and diving team earned a 178-122 win over Michigan and dropped a close decision to Texas, 165-133, in a double dual meet in Ann Arbor on Oct. 28.
• Competition opened with the 400 medley relay as Cynthia Pammett, Ashley Specht, Kim Tracey and Corey Schaefer took fifth in a time of 3:48.79. Indiana's quartet of Taylor Wohrley, Allysa Vavra, Brenna MacLean and Stephanie Armstrong was seventh in 3:49.82.
• Lindsay Vrooman posted the first top-three finish of the day for IU, taking third in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:47.99. Newcomer Lauren Jordan was fourth (16:58.75) and Nikki White was sixth (17:07.03).
• Brittany Strumbel led a 2-3-4 finish for the Hoosiers in the 200 freestyle, taking second in 1:48.66. Margaux Farrell was third (1:48.76) and Schaefer fourth (1:50.28).
• Ress picked up the first victory of her young collegiate career, taking the 100 backstroke in 55.57. That led a 1-2-3 sweep for Indiana with Pammett second (56.01) and Wohrley third (56.11).
• Specht took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.95), with Bronwyn Pasloski seventh (1:04.82) and Katelyn Ishee 11th (1:06.43). It was Vavra, fresh off her bronze medal performance in the 400 IM at the Pan Am Games, led Indiana in the 200-yard butterfly with a third-place time of 2:01.79. MacLean, who took sixth in the 200-meter fly at the Pan Am Games, was seventh with a time of 2:04.80, while Dorina Szekeres was eighth in 2:04.90.
• Farrell gave Indiana its second win of the meet, taking the 100 freestyle in 50.89. Strumbel was third (51.18) and Armstrong fourth (51.38). Farrell placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 23.48. Armstrong was fifth (23.77) and Ress sixth (24.14).
• Ress followed up her win in the 100 back with a second-place finish in the 200 back, clocking in at 2:00.74. Wohrley was fifth (2:01.18) and Szekeres sixth (2:01.71). Vavra placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.35) for the top Hoosier finish, with Ishee eighth (2:23.16) and Pasloski ninth (2:23.33).
• Laura Ryan remains unbeaten in 3-meter springboard competition this season, taking the title with 365.70 points. Kate Hillman was sixth (264.30) and senior Gabby Agostino made her season debut with an eighth-place finish (259.35).
• Ryan made it a sweep of the diving events, winning the 1-meter competition with a score of 298.15. Hillman took second with 276.10 points, while Agostino was fourth (274.15).
• Strumbel placed second in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:50.13. Schaefer was sixth (4:54.29) and Vrooman eighth (4:58.91). Day was sixth in the 100 butterfly (56.91), with Tracey eighth (58.13) and MacLean 11th (58.54).
In the final individual event of the day, Vavra took second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:21.62. Szekeres was 10th (4:31.28) and Tracey 11th (4:31.29).
• Indiana wrapped up the meet on a high note with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, just getting edged out by Texas. The Longhorns took first in 3:24.06, while IU's team of Strumbel, Armstrong, Farrell and Wohrley clocked in at 3:24.63.
Ryan Shares Big Ten Diver of the Week Award
• For the second time in as many weeks, sophomore diver Laura Ryan was the co-Big Ten Diver of the Week, the conference office announced on Nov. 1.
• Ryan was honored after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter events in a double dual meet with Texas and Michigan on Oct. 28 in Ann Arbor, Mich. In the 1-meter competition she posted a score of 365.70, and tallied a final score of 298.95 on the 3-meter. Both marks are NCAA Zone qualifying scores.
• This is Ryan's second Big Ten honor this year as she also shared diver of the week accolades on Oct. 25. It is her third career award.
About the Hoosier Men
• Indiana is 2-2 on the season, coming off a pair of losses to national powers Michigan and Texas.
• Michigan took a 216-84 win over the Hoosiers, while Texas was victorious, 217.5-82.5. Michigan defeated Texas by a 150.5-149.5 tally.
• James Wells, Cody Miller, Steve Schmuhl and Daniel Kanorr took third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.12. In the mile it was Ryan Hinshaw leading the way for the Hoosiers, taking fourth in 15:39.93. Alex Kotliarsky was fifth (15:47.11), with Patrick Scally sixth (15:55.88).
• Jim Barbiere was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:39.04), with Tyler Shedron ninth (1:40.67) and Andrew Taylor 10th (1:41.94). Wells was less than a second off the NCAA B standard in the 100 backstroke, taking fourth in a time of 49.45.
• Miller was the top Hoosier in the 100 breaststroke, finishing fourth in 56.91. Colin Hoffman was seventh (59.51) and Ian Boggs eighth (59.75). Kanorr led the way in the 100 free with a time of 46.49, placing him ninth.
• Schmuhl took fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:48.11), just 6/100ths of a second out of third. Sam Trahin was the top Indiana finisher in the 200 breaststroke with a fifth-place finish in 2:06.76.
• Barbiere added another top-five finish by touching the wall in 4:30.79 in the 500-yard freestyle, good for fifth. Shedron took ninth in 4:34.20. Wells was the top IU finisher in the butterfly in eighth (50.85).
• Zac Nees took home a victory in the 1-meter springboard competition, tallying 408.95 points, which is an NCAA Zone qualifying score. That led a 1-2 finish for Indiana with Darian Schmidt second (359.25). Mick Dell'Orco placed fifth. (317.55).
Indiana took the second through fifth spots on the 3-meter, with Dell'Orco second (348.45), Schmidt third (341.45), Nees fourth (335.05) and Bryce Ogden fifth (322.45).
• Schmuhl's sixth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley was top for Indiana (1:51.90), while Trahin was eighth (1:52.51).
• The last event of the day put Indiana fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.56 from Kanorr, Barbiere, Wells and Hunter Hoffman.
Looze Named to USA Swimming Dual in the Pool Coaching Staff
• Indiana University head swimming coach Ray Looze has been selected to serve on the Team USA men's coaching staff for the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool, Dec. 16-17 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga.
• "It is an honor to be included on the Team USA coaching staff," Looze said. "It is always a great thrill to represent your country and I am committed to helping Team USA come out victorious in Atlanta."
• This is the fifth edition of the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool. In 2011 it will pit swimmers from the United States against a European all-star team. Each team will send 22 female and 22 male competitors to take part in the short-course meter event.
• The competition will have 15 men's and 15 women's events, which will include 13 individual races and two relays for each gender. A running score will be kept combining the points earned by both women and men. The winning team will be the team with the most combined team points at the end of the competition. As there are 236 points available in the 30 total events, the first team to 1 19 points will be the winner.
• The men's squad will be led by head coach David Marsh, with Looze, University of Michigan's Mike Bottom and Ohio State's Bill Wadley serving as assistant coaches. The women will be led by head coach Jack Bauerle and assistant coaches Kim Bracken (Texas), Chris Davis (SwimAtlanta) and Lea Maurer (Stanford).
• The United States is 4-0 overall in this meet, with the first three wins coming against Australia.
About The Coaches
• Ray Looze enters his seventh year at the helm of both the men's and women's swimming programs and his 10th year of mentoring the men at Indiana University.
• Looze has guided the women to four Big Ten titles in his seven years at the helm of the program and led the men to a Big Ten crown in 2006.
• Diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber is in his 23rd season at Indiana. He has been recognized as the Big Ten Coach of the Year on 13 occasions (six for women's and seven for men's) and has coached student-athletes to 41 Big Ten titles and 18 Big Ten Divers of the Year in his 22-year tenure at IU.
