BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After kicking off in Indianapolis this past Wednesday, the 2012 Tailgate Tour heads next to Joe's Bar in Chicago on May 17th. The Chicago event will feature Men's Basketball Head Coach Tom Crean, Swimming Head Coach Ray Looze, Football Head Coach Kevin Wilson, and Athletic Director Fred Glass. The emcee for the evening will be the legendary sportscaster and "Voice of the Hoosiers" Don Fischer.
The Tailgate Tour is a great opportunity for Hoosier fans to support IU Athletics and learn about the success of student-athletes both on and off the field. It also allows IU's head coaches to provide insights on the 2012-2013 athletic seasons. The 2012 tour features six stops, with stops remaining in Evansville, Fort Wayne, Jeffersonville and Bloomington.
The Chicago event will occur 6:30-8:30 p.m. C.T. at Joe's Bar (Joe's Bar, 940 West Weed Street, Chicago, IL 60622). The event will feature remarks from Coach Crean, Coach Wilson and Fred Glass. Guests will also have an opportunity to purchase 2012 football season tickets at the event.
This Tailgate Tour event is free, but guests are asked to register in advance online through the IU Alumni Association website: http://iuaa.imodules.com/tailgate-chicago.
The Chicago tour stop is presented by the IU Varsity Club; IU Alumni Association; I Association; and the Chicago Chapters of the IU Alumni Association. The 2012 Tailgate Tour is sponsored by Smithville and Visit Bloomington.
Proceeds from the tour benefit Indiana University and the student-athlete scholarship fund. For more information, please contact the IU Varsity Club at (812) 855-0866 or varsity@indiana.edu. Up-to-date tour details and registration information can also be found on the Tailgate Tour web site.
