Freshman Fairbanks Leads Hoosiers

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana men's golf team posted rounds of 299 and 297 during the first and second rounds, respectively, at the Sagamore Preview. The team's score of 596 leaves them im seventh place out of 14 teams at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind.
Freshman Christian Fairbanks registered a opening round 75, including four birdies, and then followed that up with a round of Even par 72 for a total score of 147 and a tie for 12th on the individual leaderboard. In his second round, he went out in 2-under with eight pars and one eagle and then came in with 2-over par 38.
Senior Andrew Fogg, making his season debut, started with a 73 in his first round before posting a 76 in his second round. His total score of 149 puts him in a tie for 20th place
individually. He started his day with a birdie on his first hole and finished his first nine holes in 2-under par. After playing the next nine holes in 3-over par, he started his second round by posting 4-over par on the first nine holes. But he regrouped and came in at even par on his second nine holes of the second round.
Junior Max Kollin had an up-and-down round of 78 to start the day, posting nine bogeys, three birdies and six pars. His second round saw two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars for an Even par round of 72, giving him a total score of 150 and a tie for 26th place.
Senior Nicholas Grubnich began his day with a 3-over par round of 75 and then logged a 77 in his second round, leaving him in a tie for 38th place with a total score 152.
Rounding out the IU lineup was Matt Weber and his scores of 76 and 77 for a total of 157 and a tie for 45th.
Competing as an individual in the tournament is freshman Brendon Doyle, who carded scores of 79 and 82.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
