Walsh Named B1G Wrestler of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Redshirt Senior Taylor Walsh was named the Big Ten Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of November 25. This is his second time winning the award (Nov. 5, 2013). Walsh, who was ranked 12th heading into the Keystone Classic this past weekend in Philadelphia, Penn., earned his 100th career win with a 49-second pin of Colton Jackson from Appalachian State.
The Cherry Hill, N.J. native was undefeated in the tournament, winning four of his five bouts by pin. Walsh defeated 14th ranked Jim Wilson of Stanford in the semifinals with a 5-1 decsion. The senior pinned 4th ranked Pierce Harger of Northwestern in 1:28 to win the Keystone Classic Championship and bring home the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
As voted on by students and Indiana fans, Walsh was also named the #GoIU Student-Athlete of the Week.
With his accomplishments this weekend, Walsh moved from 12th to 6th in the WIN Wrestling Magazine rankings for the 165-pound weight class (7th in InterMat rankings). He is undefeated on the season with a 10-0 record and eight pins.
