LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Indiana travelled to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitaional this weekend. The Hoosiers came away with two podium finishes -- redshirt senior Taylor Walsh (165), second place and senior Luke Sheridan (197). As a team, Indiana finished in 12th with 51.5 points.
Taylor Walsh defeated 15th ranked Nicholas Wanzek (Minnesota) and third ranked Michael Moreno (Iowa State) en route to the championship bout. In the final match, Walsh lost in a close 4-2 decescion to the number two nationally ranked. This loss is the first of the season for the seventh ranked wrestler in the 165 pound weight class. Walsh is now 14-1 on the season with 11 pins.
In the 197 pound weight class, Sheridan finished his weekend 4-2 and earned a seventh place spot on the podium. On the season, Sheridan is now 12-5 with nine pins.
Indiana has it's first dual meet of the year in Madison, Wisconsin against the University of Wisconsin, December 11(7 pm).
