Abdelatif Heads to FINA Diving Grand Prix

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior diver Emad Abdelatif will represent his native Egypt this week at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostok, Germany.

Abdelatif will compete in the 3-meter springboard competition on Friday, Feb. 22. He will then return to Bloomington in time to represent the Hoosiers at next week's Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Abdelatif posted a trio of top-15 finishes at last year's Big Ten Championships, led by an 11th-place finish on the platform. He then qualified for the NCAA Championships, taking 12th on the 1-meter, 13th on the 3-meter and 19th on the platform, picking up a pair of honorable mention All-America honors.

As a sophomore in 2012 he was fourth on the 1-meter, 11th on the platform and 15th on the 3-meter. As a freshman in 2011 he picked up points for the Hoosiers 1-meter and platform at the Big Ten meet.
