9/25/2014 12:00:00 AM | Women's Water Polo
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Over the next couple months, we will take a look back at some of the players and teams from the Indiana Water Polo program that have made it the program that it is today - one of the best in the country. This week, we look back at the 2006 season.
The 2006 Hoosiers finished the season with a record of 24-11. Their 7-0 CWPA mark gave them back-to-back perfect conference records. After defeating Michigan, Wagner, and Marist, Indiana brought home their second consecutive Fluid Five Challenge Championship.
Janis Pardy, Jackie Pyrz, Melissa Soria, and Brook Zimmerman are among the 2006 Hoosiers that received individual performance awards. All four Hoosiers were named to the CWPA (Collegiate Water Polo Association) All-Division Team. Melissa Soria was also awarded a spot on the All-Eastern Championship First Team.
Indiana Water Polo has a strong history of academic success. The 2006 season was no different. Nine different Hoosiers earned at least one academic award - five of who (Estrada, Pardy, Pyrz, Woolley, Zernicke) earned multiple.
