Late Goal Pushes Ohio State Past IU, 2-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After a Jessie Bujouves equalizer in the 50th minute, Ohio State scored the go-ahead goal with just five minutes remaining as the Indiana Women's Soccer team fell to the Buckeyes on Sunday afternoon, 2-1.
Junior Veronica Ellis led Indiana in shots with four, including three first half looks highlighted by an on target attempt in the 19th minute that was saved by Ohio State's Jillian McVicker.
Indiana goalkeeper Sarah Stone registered six saves in the first half and finished the game with seven.
Ohio State struck first in the 24th minute as Lindsay Agnew's look from Nichelle Prince bounced off the crossbar and into the net.
After being outshot 15-5 in the first half, the Hoosiers' put up eight-second half attempts, compared to Ohio State's seven. In addition, Indiana earned four corners in the second half while the Buckeyes did not earn any.
Bujouves tied the game up five minutes into the second half as Justine Lynn found the senior just inside the 18-yard box. Bujouves' shot arched inside the far post for her third goal of the season.
Late in the game, Bujouves had the closest go-ahead look for Indiana as she fired up a ball that just grazed the crossbar and went high in the 79th minute.
Ohio State's game-winner came in the 85th minute as Agnew sent in a low cross to the center of the box to set up the score by Michela Paradiso.
The Hoosiers looked to tie up the game late as OSU's McVicker was forced to chase down freshman Hanna Johnson just outside the six-yard box, but Johnson's shot was wide.
Indiana is back in action next Sunday as the Hoosiers travel to Michigan State at 3 p.m. The game will be shown live on the Big Ten Network.
The final game of the season for the Hoosiers will be a matchup with Purdue at Armstrong Stadium on Oct. 28.
"This team has progressed every single game and has such fight that we've developed from everything we've been through from injuries and other adversities," said head coach Amy Berbary. "We have to continue to progress as a program. Now it's a question of where do we finish in the Big Ten and can we find a way in these last two games to get better and come out with a couple of victories?"
