Sanjuan Matches IU Record With 67

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – One day after senior Camille Chevalier tied the IU record with a 67 in the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, junior Ana Sanjuan also posted a 5-under par round of 67 to become just the fifth golfer in IU women's golf history to post a 67.

As a team, Indiana registered a score of 282 (-6) and moved up into a tie for 12^th place with Minnesota and Long Beach State at 567 (-9) for the tournament. The 282 is the second-lowest team score in program history, trailing only the 277 posted in 2008 at this same tournament. And the two round score of 567 is the lowest team score through two rounds in school history, topping the previous best of 568 at this tournament in 2008.

Sanjuan, a native of Spain, did not have any blemishes on her card in round two. She started on the 13^th hole and after posting pars on her first two holes, she moved to one under after a birdie on 15. As soon as she made the turn to the front nine, she kicked it into gear, rolling in four birdies to go with five pars to finish at 5-under par. She is tied for 38^th individually at 2-under par for the tournament with a total score of 142.

Camille Chevalier, who became the fourth player in IU history to tie the school record with a round of 67 yesterday, followed it up with a score of Even par 72 on Monday. She carded four more birdies on Monday, but a double bogey and a bogey on the 3^rd and 4^th holes derailed her round. She is the top IU performer for the tournament overall, sitting in a tie for 20^th place individually with a score of 139.

Eva Domingo joined Sanjuan under par, as she carded a 1-under par round of 71 to give her a two round total of 145 and a tie for 60^th. She was steady in her second round, logging two birdies, one bogey and 15 pars on the day.

Pear Siriko is tied for 44^th after her score of Even par 72 gave her a total score of 143 over the two days. And rounding out the IU lineup on Monday was freshman Erin Harper, who posted a score of 75 and has a total score of 148 entering Tuesday's final round.

The Hoosiers will be back in action on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club for the final round of the tournament. Live scoring can be found at birdiefire.com.
