BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The records continued to fall on the final day of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club near Las Vegas. The Indiana women's golf team posted a final round score of 280 to give them a three-round total of 847 and 10th place as a team.
The team score of 847 set a new Indiana record for lowest team score over three rounds in a tournament, topping the previous best of 860 set in 2008 at this same tournament. The 280 score in the final round is the second-best single round tournament team score in IU history, topping the 282 the team posted yesterday.
Senior Camille Chevalier proved that her first round 67 on Sunday, which tied the IU record for lowest single round in program history, was not a fluke as she carded a 3-under par 69 in Tuesday's final round. Her total score for the tournament of 208 is a new individual record at Indiana, one shot better than Elaine Harris' total of 209 at the Mountain View Collegiate in 2007. The score of 208 (-8) left Chevalier in a tie for 13th individually.
Chevalier's final round didn't get off to the best start, as she bogeyed two of her first four holes. But she quickly recovered by reeling off three straight birdies on holes 12, 13 and 14 and would make the turn at 1-under par. She birdied holes 1, 3 and 6 on the front nine to post her final round score of 69.
Ana Sanjuan also continued her strong play on Tuesday after matching Chevalier's IU record tying round of 67 the day before. She birdied two of her final five holes to move to 2-under on the day and finished with a score of 70. For the tournament, her score of 212 (-4) is tied for fifth-best in IU history and is a career-best while she finished in a tie for 31st individually.
Eva Domingo recorded her second straight round of 1-under par 71 on Tuesday. And just like Chevalier and Sanjuan, Domingo used a rally on the front nine to get back under par. She birdied three holes on the front nine and played her final 11 holes in 2-under par. Her total score of 216 (Even) is a season-best and earned her a tie for 53rd.
Freshman Erin Harper carded a 2-under par 70 in her third round, a round that included five birdies. With a total score of 218 (+2), Harper tied for 68th individually after her best round of the tournament and her lowest round of the year.
Pear Siriko also finished the tournament at Even par 218 after her final round 75.
The next tournament for Indiana will be the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico at Rio Mar Country Club from Feb. 14-16, 2016.
