BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana volleyball team goes back on the road to take on No. 6 Nebraska on Wednesday Nov. 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
After a 2-0 week with wins against Rutgers and Michigan State, IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said her team is motivated to get another shot at Nebraska.
"We are very familiar with Nebraska having played them recently," she said. "I thought we played a solid match against them last time. I thought our serving was able to take them out of system. We didn't get enough kills. I think we need to look back on the film and see where we have come since then and figure out how can we do better this time."
IU Head Coach Sherry Dunbar Kruzan Quotes
On the win against Michigan State
"The most important thing is we took them out of their offense. They are physical, athletic, and getting them out of system is just as important as the aces. I think it eliminated some of the attackers we had to deal with for block defense."
On the play of Taylor Lebo (20 digs, four aces, two kills) vs. Michigan State
"She is a very talented volleyball player and has been playing all her life. She has a great feel for the game. To have 20 digs as a defensive specialist in a four set match is ridiculous. She handled a big load for us that night and made a huge impact on the match."
On the pin hitters against Michigan State
"We have been on the pin hitters non stop this season about the impact they need to make and that they are capable of doing it. To have both Allison Hammond and Amelia Anderson really step up and they found a way to get kills for us. Their aggressive mentality stayed for the entire match."
Notes and Storylines Going into the Match
• Senior Amelia Anderson has 1,093 kills for the season and leads the Hoosiers with 370 this season. Anderson has already exceeded her total of 312 from a season ago and has improved on her hitting efficiency, from .136 last year to .232 this season. Anderson ranks 17th on the Hoosiers all-time list for career kills and needs 12 kills to move into 16th on the list.
• Senior captain and libero Courtney Harnish recorded her 1,000th career dig at Minnesota on Oct. 28 and now has 1,055 for her career. Harnish became the 12th player in IU school history to reach 1,000 and now ranks eighth in school history in career digs. She needs nine more digs to move into seventh on the list.
• Junior setter Megan Tallman has 2,741 assists which ranks eighth in IU school history for all-time career assists and is the fourth most in school history in the rally scoring era. She is 99 assists from moving into seventh on the career list.
• The Hoosiers had 13 aces against Michigan State on Saturday, the most any Big Ten team has had in a four-set match this season. Indiana has three players who have 20 or more aces this season and are the only team in the Big Ten to have three players ranks in the top-15 in the conference in aces.
