Hoosiers Struggle On Day 1 at Talis Park

NAPLES, Fla. -- The first day of the Talis Park Challenge at Talis Park Golf Club in Naples, Fla., is in the books and the Hoosiers are in 15th place while individual Nicholas Grubnich paced the Hoosiers with a two-round score of 146 (+6).
As a team, Indiana posted scores of 304 and 301 in rounds one and two, respectively, and are 37-over par heading into Monday's final round.
Grubnich started his day with five straight pars before posting bogey on three of his next five holes and headed to his back nine on round one at 3-over par. After posting birdie on the 11th hole, he recorded pars on each of his final six holes for a round of 73. He would post another round of 73 with three birdies in his second round.
Freshman Brendon Doyle had an up-and-down first round, posting two birdies and five birdies on his way to a 3-over par 74. His second round was a little more consistent after he posted a double bogey on his first hole of the round. He would play the remaining 17 holes in 1-over par and finished with another round of 74 to sit in a tie for 47th overall at 8-over par for the tournament.
Senior Andrew Fogg had three bogeys and two birdies headed to his final hole of the first round, but came away with a double bogey to post a score of 3-over par 74. In his second round, he started with a birdie and then mixed in another birdie and three bogeys over the next five holes to sit at
1-over on the round before logging an eagle on the 15th hole to move to 1-under on the round. But the final three holes saw Fogg go 4-over par and he finished with he second round of 74 on the day. He is tied with Doyle for 47th individually for the tournament.
Sophomore Will Seger opened with a round of 75 before struggling in his second round and finishing with a 79. His score of 154
leaves him tied for 69th individually for the tournament. Junior Max Kollin was only able to find one birdie over his first two rounds and is tied for 74th on the individual leaderboard with a score of 158 with teammate Andrew Havill.
Havill, a sophomore carded a trio of birdies over his two rounds on Sunday, but was not able to avoid the big numbers on other holes and posted rounds of 78 and 80 on the day.
