Indiana Tied for Sixth at NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- After the first 36 holes of the 2015 NYX Hoosier Invitational, the Indiana men's golf team is tied for sixth place as a team at 11-over par (579).
The top individual performances for IU came from junior Max Kollin and sophomore Keegan Vea. The pair both posted two-round total scores of 2-over par 144 to tie for 20th place individually.
In his first round, Kollin carded three birdies and four bogeys on his way to a 1-over par 72. His second round saw him play a steady front nine with seven pars and a birdie and then he followed that with an even par back nine for his second straight round of 72.
For Vea, he opened with a 3-over par 74 in his first round after posting eight pars and a bogey on the front nine. His second round had him at 2-over par entering the back nine before he logged birdies on three of the first four holes and finished his round at 1-under par 70.
Brendon Doyle, a freshman, is just one shot behind Vea and Kollin at 3-over par 145 after his first two rounds of 72 and 73 put him in a tie for 25th.
Another freshman, Matthew Weber, is tied for 28th place entering the final day. He started the day with a 6-over par 77 in round one before rallying to post a 2-under par 69 in his second round for a total score of 146.
Nicholas Grubnich rounds out the IU team with a score of 151 following rounds of 77 and 74 put him in a tie for 65th.
Competing as individuals, Will Seger and Andrew Fogg are both tied for 39th at 148 while Andrew Havill and Christian Fairbanks are both at 149 and tied for 49.
