LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Indiana scored two runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to come from behind and defeat Kentucky, 11-7, Tuesday evening at Cliff Hagan Stadium, recording the final six runs of the game to halt a three-game skid.
Indiana, which trailed 7-5 entering the seventh inning, tied the game with a pair of seventh-inning RBI singles from Casey Rodrigue and Will Nolden and then used two-run home runs in the eighth and ninth innings from Brad Hartong and Logan Sowers, respectively, to pull ahead and secure the win.
Luke Harrison, who moved into a tie for third all-time at Indiana with his 75th career appearance, earned the win, pitching the final two scoreless innings, giving up just two hits.
Indiana and Kentucky combined for 31 hits, each going hitless in just one inning apiece. Led by three hits from both Rodrigue and Sowers, Indiana hit 16 times, the second most for the Hoosiers in 2015. Scott Donley, Hartong and Isaiah Pasteur all had two-hit games for IU.
Kentucky matched Indiana every time the Hoosiers scored in the second, third and fifth innings until IU's run in the final three frames.
The Hoosiers scored first for the second consecutive game, taking advantage of Pasteur's two-RBI single to score Rodrigue and Sowers for a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Kentucky responded with a six hits in the bottom of the frame to pull ahead, 5-2, recording four hits and two of those runs before even putting an out on the board.
Each team tagged a run on in the third inning before Indiana was able to cut into the deficit in the fifth, scoring on a balk and an RBI triple from Sowers. Kentucky added its seventh run to lead 7-5 after five and set up Indiana's emphatic finish.
