Walsh Third at Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Taylor Walsh finished in third-place at 165 lbs., as the Indiana wrestling team wrapped up competition at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday at St. John Arena.
Walsh started the day with a 4-1 decision against No. 5 seed Jackson Morse (Illinois). In the third-place match Walsh started strong and earned a 6-2 decision against No. 4 seed Pierce Harger (Northwestern).
Walsh recorded his 69th pin on Saturday, which is the most in IU history in career pins. Walsh now has 128 wins, which rank fourth all-time in the IU record books.
Sophomore Nate Jackson found himself in the ninth-place bracket at 174 lbs and made the most of the opportunity.
Jackson won a 7-5 decision over Phil Bakuckas (Rutgers) and claimed the ninth-place position with a 9-1 major decision against Chad Welch (Purdue).
As a team the Hoosiers finished 12th overall with 16 points.
Up next will be the NCAA Championships March 19-21 in St. Louis, Mo.
