Hoosiers Host Evansville on Wednesday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Hoosiers will play host to the Evansville Purple Aces at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Hoosiers will look to rebound on Wednesday night against Evansville after falling to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this past Sunday, 4-1.
• Last Wednesday, the Hoosiers tied at in-state foe Butler, 2-2. IU took a 2-0 lead in to halftime, but the Bulldogs answered with a pair of second-half goals in front of a crowd of 4,411 at the Butler Bowl.
• On Sept. 13, the Hoosiers opened up Big Ten play on the road at Penn State, falling to the Nittany Lions, 1-0, in a hard-fought match. The loss was just the second in Big Ten openers in program history for the Hoosiers.
• The Hoosiers added two wins to their record at the Mike Bertecelli Memorial Tournament. Indiana rallied from an early deficit for a 2-1 win over UAB, then followed that with a 2-0 shutout against No. 24 South Florida.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Femi Hollinger-Janzen was named one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award. From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select ten finalists for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award in October.
• Indiana sports one of the nation's youngest rosters in 2015 with 20 underclassmen on the team. The Hoosiers are tied for the ninth-youngest team in the country and rank as the youngest squad in the Big Ten.
• Despite the youth, Indiana returns 21 players from last year's roster, including 19 letterwinners from a year ago.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE ACES
• Evansville enters Wednesday's match with Hoosiers with an overall record of 2-3-0 on the season.
• The Purple Aces haven't played since Sept. 13, when the team beat Marshall on the road, 1-0. In comparison, the Hoosiers have played three matches in the same time span.
• Evansville's other win this season came on Sept. 6 against Belmont, 2-1.
• Prior to the start of the season, Evansville was picked to finish sixth of seven teams in the Missouri Valley Conference in a poll conducted of the league's coaches.
SERIES HISTORY
• In the overall series against Evansville, the Hoosiers lead the Purple Aces, 27-4-3.
• Entering Wednesday, Indiana has won 13-straight matches and is unbeaten 17 games against the Purple Aces.
• Indiana's last loss to Evansville came on November 25, 1990, when IU fell lost to the Purple Aces, 1-0.
• Last season, the Hoosiers traveled to Evansville and came away with a 2-0 win. Grant Lillard and Femi Hollinger-Janzen each scored first-half goals for IU in the victory.
FEMI ON FIRE
• Femi Hollinger-Janzen has come alive for the Hoosiers, scoring goals in each of the team's last two matches and in three-of-the-last four for IU.
• Hollinger-Janzen scored his first goal of the season against USF on Sept. 6 and netted a score versus both Butler (Sept. 16) and Rutgers (Sept. 20).
• Hollinger-Janzen leads the team with three goals and six points on the season. The senior is also tied for second in goals in the Big Ten.
BUCKMASTER VS. BUTLER
• Freshman Rece Buckmaster made the most of his first collegiate start at Butler on Sept. 16, scoring his first career goal.
• Scoring goals is not new to Buckmaster, who helped lead Canterbury to a pair of state titles. The Auburn, Ind., native had a goal and an assist in the 2012 IHSAA state title game.
BIG TEN DOMINATION
• The Hoosiers are 94-25-13 in regular season matches, 26 more victories than the next closest team (Penn State).
• IU has won 12 Big Ten tournament titles, sharing the 1995 crown with Wisconsin.
• Indiana has also been crowned regular season champion 14 times, including nine-straight seasons from 1996-2004. IU won back-to-back regular season titles in 2006 and 2007 and re-claimed the regular season crown in 2010.
