BATTLING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin is sitting at a 3-4-3 record with wins against Western Michigan, North Dakota State and Loyola. The Badgers went 0-1-1 in the opening weekend of conference play as they dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 4 Penn State before earning a scoreless draw with No. 20 Ohio State. Wisconsin has been led on offense by Rose Lavelle, whose four goals and two assists give her a team-leading 10 points. McKenna Meuer has also registered multiple scores for the Badgers as she sits at three goals. Goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem has registered 38 saves on the season with a 1.19 goals-against average.
The Badgers lead the all-time series, 9-13-2. Last year's meeting resulted in a 1-0 victory for the then No.14-ranked Badgers. The 2013 meeting saw Indiana come away with a 1-0 victory and a berth to the Big Ten Tournament.
GOING AGAINST THE GOPHERS
No. 18 Minnesota is off to a 7-1-2 mark, including a 2-0 Big Ten record. The Golden Gophers defeated No. 20 Ohio State, 2-1, and No. 4 Penn State, 1-0, over the weekend. Simone Kolander has registered five goals so far this season, while Megan Koenig and Sydney Squires have each scored twice. In addition, nine Gophers have recorded one goal. Tarah Hobbs has been the No. 1 goalkeeper for Minnesota, giving up just three goals and earning a 0.31 goals-against average with 34 saves.
Minnesota holds a 9-14-2 series lead against the Hoosiers. A 2-1 Minnesota victory last season ended a string of back-to-back wins for IU against the Gophers.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hoosiers opened up Big Ten play last weekend at Armstrong Stadium. The first matchup ended in a scoreless draw with Illinois on Friday night. Sunday's game against Northwestern featured Lauren Joray's first career goal, which equalized the game in the 79th minute and eventually led to a 1-1 draw.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME
The two contests over the weekend marked the fourth and fifth time Indiana has played in an overtime contest this season, which matches last year's total. Four of the those games resulted in ties, while a fifth resulted in a 1-0 victory against Baylor in the first OT period on Aug. 30. The Hoosiers have now played in three consecutive tie games and have had four of five home games result in double overtime ties. Indiana's four ties this season are the most since the 2006 team also registed four.
STONE'S A ROCK
Goalkeeper Sarah Stone continues to keep the Hoosiers on track defensively as she picked up 12 total saves against Illinois and Northwestern. The redshirt senior has registered a Big Ten Conference-leading 46 saves up to this point. For her career, the Evansville, Ind. native has recorded 154 saves, which ranks as sixth-most in Indiana program history.
For her efforts, Stone was named to CollegeSoccer360.com's Primetime Performers Honor Roll, marking the second time this season she has earned that honor.
TIME CHANGE FOR OCT. 3
The team's Oct. 3 battle with Iowa has been moved to an 8 p.m. start. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but has been moved back to allow fans extra time to navigate football post-game traffic.
TEAM EARNS ACADEMIC AWARD
For the fourth straight year, Indiana was recognized by The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for excellence in the classroom. Indiana was one of just 208 schools to have both the women and men's team earn the award.
