Day Two of IU Winter Invite in the Books

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's tennis picked up four singles wins and three doubles victories on day two of the IU Winter Invitational on Sunday inside the IU Tennis Center.
Three of Indiana's singles victories were decided in a third-set tiebreak as the all the Hoosiers matched up against opponents from Abilene Christian. Madison Appel dropped her first set to ACU's Lucile Pothier before rebounding to earn a win, 6-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-5).
Indiana's Sarah McLean and Kim Schmider also fell in each of their opening sets before coming back for victories. McLean got past Nada Marjanovic, 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) as Schmider won by a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) score over Kaysiee Hermsdorf.
IU's Paula Gutierrez was victorious in straight sets over Erin Walker, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles, McLean and Appel paired up to cruise to a 6-1 win over Wright State's Elaine Cloern and Megan Brdicka. Gutierrez and Danielle Wolf also rolled for the Hoosiers over ACU's Marjanovic and Ansley Boarman, 6-0.
Schmider and Natalie Whalen were victorious for IU in doubles play as well with a 6-2 triumph over Wright's Karoline Haller and Linsey Verstrepen.
The third and final day of the IU Winter Invite will get started at 10:30 a.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 18 inside the IU Tennis Center.
