BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will begin its dual schedule this weekend inside the IU Tennis Center with a trio of matches.
The Hoosiers start things on Saturday, Jan. 23 against Miami (OH) at 11 a.m. ET. IU will then host a double-header on Sunday, Jan. 24, beginning with Western Kentucky at 11 a.m. and then Butler at 4 p.m. WKU and Butler have a pair of dual matches under their belts already as Miami, like IU, gets its dual season started on Saturday.
This weekend begins a schedule that has Indiana hosting 17 dual matches in Bloomington this year, including six Big Ten matches in March and April. The busiest home month for the Hoosiers will be February when IU hosts six opponents at the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers finished their first weekend of play for 2016 going 9-3 in singles and 12-5 in doubles play as part of the IU Winter Invitational last week. Three IU players posted a perfect 2-0 record in singles play in freshman Madison Appel, junior Paula Gutierrez and senior Sarah McLean.
In doubles, Appel and McLean teamed up to post a 4-1 record for the weekend. Two other Hoosier duos also went 4-1 in the invite last week in Gutierrez and freshman Danielle Wolf as well as junior Kim Schmider and freshman Natalie Whalen.
Parking For Saturday's Match
Fans attending Saturday's Indiana vs. Miami (OH) women's tennis match at 11 a.m. should park by entering either Gate 10 or Gate 11 off of the 45/46 Bypass and pay upon entry. There is an IU men's basketball game that begins at Noon, so please plan travel accordingly.
