Friday’s bout card is stacked with familiar foes as the Hoosiers host the Buckeyes
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Hoosiers are back home again after a two-meet road trip against Michigan State and Michigan. Their trek through wrestling's toughest conference continues with Friday's dual against the defending national champions, the #7 Ohio State Buckeyes. A win on Friday would give Indiana their first win against Ohio State since 2009 and their first year with four conference wins since the 2009-10 season.

IU-Ohio State Series
The Hoosiers and Buckeyes will take the mat on Friday for the 91st time since their first meeting in 1923. Ohio State leads the overall series, 51-37-2.
The Hoosiers' most recent dual win against the Spartans came in 2006, a 31-7 victory in Bloomington.
Familiar Faces
The meet between Indiana and Ohio State could include several matchups between opponents that met earlier this season or earlier in their wrestling careers.
One of the highlight bouts of the day, the 174 lbs. matchup pitting No. 8 Nate Jackson against No. 15 Myles Martin, is a rematch from the EMU Open Championship bout at the beginning of the season. Martin, Ohio State's lone true freshman in their starting lineup, edged Jackson 7-5 in that bout. It was Jackson's first loss of the season.
Jake Masengale (197) takes the mat on Friday against Ohio State's Josh Fox. The two grappled earlier this season in their opening round of the EMU Open. Masengale took the decision, 5-2. The Indiana sophomore will look for similar success in their second meeting, in hopes of picking up his second Big Ten dual win this season.
The heavyweight bout could follow suit with a second meeting between Indiana's Garret Goldman and Ohio State's Thomas Haines. In their meeting at the EMU Open, Haines edged the Indiana senior with a 4-1 decision, handing Goldman his first loss of the season.
In the 133 lbs. bout, Alonzo Shepherd faces a rematch against No. 8 Johnni DiJulius. The pair of seniors met in dual action last season, when the seventh-ranked DiJulius secured a win by fall.
Bonus Points Beat Spartans
Last weekend, the Hoosiers traveled for their first away dual since early December, and they emerged with a 20-15 victory over Michigan State.
The Hoosiers and Spartans split the bout card, 5-5, but bonus point wins from Jake Danishek, Nate Jackson, and Luke Blanton gave Indiana their sixth win of the season.
Danishek, Oliver Win at Michigan
Indiana returns to action this weekend following a 33-6 defeat on the road against sixth-ranked Michigan. The surprise of the dual came in the 174 lbs. bout, where Michigan's #14 Davonte Mahomes won a last-second 9-8 decision over #6 Nate Jackson.
A pair of Hoosiers picked up their second Big Ten wins of the weekend at Cliff Keen Arena. Elijah Oliver jumped into the rankings with a 5-4 decision over #20 Conor Youtsey, and Jake Danishek earned a 10-3 decision over Michigan's Cody VanderHagen.
Top of the Class
Indiana redshirt junior Nate Jackson (174) slid to the #8 national ranking (InterMat) after his loss to Michigan's Mahomes. He'll look to return to his winning ways this weekend with a bout against #15 Myles Martin.
True freshman Elijah Oliver made his rankings debut this week, entering at #19 after his decision win against Conor Youtsey. Oliver is 22-4 in his first season with the Hoosiers, picking up bonus points in 15 of his wins (2nd - team).
Underclassmen Impact
Six of Indiana's 10 starters in their dual lineup are underclassmen, and they've had strong showings throughout the season. The IU freshmen have achieved 17 podium finishes and four championships in tournament play. True freshman Elijah Oliver (125) is off to a flying start with a 24-4 record (4-1 Big Ten) and two tournament championships.
The four freshmen currently in IU's dual lineup have won a combined 68% of their bouts with 11 major decisions, six technical falls, and seven pins.
Hoosiers in the Coaches Panel
The season's first coaches panel rankings were announced last week, a poll that goes a long way in determining the 33 grapplers in each weight class who will make the trip to Madison Square Garden for the 2016 NCAA Championships.
Three Hoosiers received recognition in the first of four panel rankings. Nate Jackson (174) topped the list at #5, followed by Elijah Oliver (125) at #21 and Luke Blanton (149) at #29.
