Preview: Indiana and Ohio State Meet On Sunday

OPENING TIP
• Indiana University is in its 116th season of men's basketball and will put an eight-game winning streak on the line when it hosts Ohio State on Sunday. The Hoosiers are coming a off a 59-58 win at home over Wisconsin. Last year, IU defeated Ohio State in Assembly Hall, 69-66, and lost in Columbus, 82-70.

HEAD COACH TOM CREAN
• Tom Crean is in his eighth year of leading the Hoosiers. Over the last four+ years, IU is 106-48 and leads the Big Ten with 19 regular season wins over ranked opponents during that time. During that same span, the Hoosiers have appeared nationally ranked in at least one major poll during the season. He has recruited a McDonald's All-American in each of the last five years. In addition, he has seen seven of his players score 1,000 points or more in an IU uniform. Since 2011, the Hoosiers have averaged 23 wins per season compared to 20 averaged at IU from 1995-2008. Seven players have scored 1,000 points in their career under Tom Crean at Indiana. Christian Watford (1,730), Yogi Ferrell (1,651), Verdell Jones III (1,347), Jordan Hulls (1,318), Cody Zeller (1,157), Will Sheehey (1,120) and Victor Oladipo (1,117).
HALFTIME COMEBACKS
• The Hoosiers have won three games this season when they have trailed at halftime. IU trailed 28-24 against Wisconsin, 39-36 at Nebraska, and 41-31 versus Notre Dame in Indianapolis. IU also was tied 34-34 at the half against Rutgers.
BRINGING FATIGUE TO THE GAME
• In Hoosier wins, IU is shooting 61.8% from the floor and 52.80% from three-point range in the final 10 minutes of games compared to its opponents shooting 39.7% from the floor and 27.0% from long distance during crunch time.
YOGI IS BIG TEN ACTIVE LEADER
• Senior Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell enters his final conference season as the active leader in scoring (1,651), assists (531), three-point field goals made (221) and is the only senior in the league to have started every game he has played (118). He scored the team's final eight points against Wisconsin, including the go-ahead jumper with 37 seconds left. He has scored 15 points in each of the last two second halves against Nebraska and Wisconsin. In five career games against the Buckeyes, he is averaging 12.8 points per game.
GOOD DEFENSE
• The Hoosiers held Nebraska's Shavon Shields and Andrew White III to just 34.7% shooting (8 for 23) and Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig to 28.0% from the floor (7 for 25) in the last two games.
FRESHMAN IMPACT
• In conference play, IU freshmen Thomas Bryant, OG Anunoby and Juwan Morgan have had a tremendous impact in their first exposure to the Big Ten. Collectively, they contributed 66 points, 31 rebounds, shot 80.0% from the floor, made all six long distance attempts (Anunoby) and made 76.9% of their FT attempts. In addition, they combined for seven assists and nine blocks and eight steals.
MORE YOGI
• Ferrell is one of two active players in the country to have at least 1,550 career points (1,651), 500 assists (531) and 350 rebounds (372) (other is Juan'ya Green, Hofstra) He was named second team Preseason All-American by The Sporting News and USA Today, in addition to garnering third team honors from Athlon Sports and fourth team mention in Blue Ribbon Magazine. Ferrell now has 1,651 points in his IU career, which ranks 12th on the all-time list at IU. He also has 531 career assists in his IU career, which ranks third in school history. He has made 216 3FG in his IU career, which ranks third in school history. For the season, he is averaging 17.0 points (5th in Big Ten), 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists (4th in Big Ten).
MAX SET THE TONE AT RUTGERS
• Senior graduate transfer Max Bielfeldt had his best day as a collegian with 18 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench at Rutgers. He has exceeded his career averages at Michigan in his one season with Indiana. He is averaging 8.1 points (3.5 at UM), 4.8 rebounds (2.3 at UM), and is shooting 59.8% (5th in Big Ten) from the field (45.3 at UM) and 52.9 from three-point range (26.8 at UM). He tied the game with Wisconsin with a late triple.
WILLIAMS IMPACT
• Junior forward Troy Williams is averaging 12.6 points per game for the Hoosiers. He is seventh in the league in rebounding (6.8), eighth in field goal percentage (56.9) and is second in the Big Ten in steals (1.6). He had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the Hoosiers' win against Notre Dame, 15 points and 19 rebounds against IPFW and 20 points against IPFW.

MORE BLACKMON IMPACT
• Sophomore James Blackmon, Jr., is 9th in the league in scoring (15.8), 3rd in three-point field goals made per game (2.8) and 7th in three-point field goal percentage (46.3). He had a season-high 33 points against Alcorn State earlier this year.
ODDS AND TRENDS
• The Hoosiers have notched 50 percent or better shooting in 23 out of 32 halves played so far this season.
• Freshman Thomas Bryant is third among the league's first-year players averaging 11.9 points. He leads the Big Ten in field goal shooting making 73.0% of his shot attempts. He had 19 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots at Nebraska and had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists against Wisconsin.
• Sophomore Robert Johnson is 3rd in the Big Ten in three-point field goal percentage making 51.0% of his shots. Team is 10-0 when he starts. He forced a game-winning steal in the final seconds against Wisconsin.
• Senior Nick Zeisloft is 8th in the Big Ten shooting 45.5% from three-point range. Last year, he averaged 6.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games against the Buckeyes.
• Junior Collin Hartman made his 19th career start and seventh this season against Wisconsin. He tied a season-high with nine points and made all three of his long distance attempts at Rutgers. He is averaging 5.4 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 64.3% from the field and 71.4 % from long distance in the last five games.
• Freshman OG Anunoby is averaging 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in his first three Big Ten games. He has scored a career-high 11 points in each of his last two games and has made all seven of his field goal attempts and all six of his long distance shots in league play.
• Freshman Juwan Morgan had two rebounds, two blocks and a steal in the Wisconsin win. He hit two big free throws, grabbed two boards and had an assist and a turnover at Nebraska. At Rutgers, he had two points and three rebounds in six minutes off the bench against Rutgers.
• Junior walk-on Ryan Burton played 10 minutes against Rutgers and scored a career-high six points when he drained both of his long distance attempts.
• With Blackmon out, the Hoosiers have turned to freshman walk-on Harrison Niego who has seen 40 minutes of action this season with just two turnovers.
• For the third time under Tom Crean, the Hoosiers have put together an eight-game winning streak. IU won 12 to start the 2011-12 season and nine to begin the 2012-13 campaign.
