Fall Schedule Closes at Quail Valley Intercollegiate

VERO BEACH, Florida – The Indiana University men's golf team will wrap-up the fall portion of their 2016-17 schedule this week at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate in Vero Beach, Florida. The tournament will feature a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday with teams playing 36 holes before closing out the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday.
Last year at this tournament, the Hoosiers finished in 10th place with a team score of 888, with Keegan Vea and Jake Brown leading the way in a tie for 34th.

NORTHERN INTERCOLLEGIATE RECAP
The Hoosiers earned a second place team finish at the Northern Intercollegiate at Beverly CC in Chicago on Oct. 10. Brendon Doyle led a trio of Hoosiers inside the top 16 individually for the tournament, as he finished tied for eighth with a score of 7-over par (220) to tie for his best career finish. Andrew Havill was behind him at 11-over par and Ochsenreiter was 13-over par.
WINDON MEMORIAL RECAP
At the Windon Memorial, Indiana posted a 11th place finish with a score of 896 (295-298-303; +32) while Keegan Vea was the top IU individual with a score of 221 (70-76-75; +5) and a tie for 21st. For Vea, it marked his eighth career top 25 finish and the fifth overall Top 25 by a Hoosier this season. Vea's first round 70 (-2) was also the best round in relation to par so far this season. Andrew Havill continued his steady start to his senior season with this third straight Top 30 finish after a score of 224 put him in a tie for 29th.
RECAP FROM OLYMPIA FIELDS
In what is annually one of the best – if not the best – fields in collegiate golf, the Hoosiers entered the final round in 10th place out of 14 teams at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. But when the dust settled on the final round, Indiana slipped to 14th place but were just four shots out of 10th place and showed that they can compete with some of the best teams in the country.
Senior Andrew Havill continued to show the way for IU early in the season, as he posted scores of 73-70-73 to earn his second Top 20 finish of the season (T19). Brendon Doyle was just one shot behind him at 217 and in 21st place.
SEASON OPENER AT WOLF RUN
The Hoosiers hosted 14 teams at Wolf Run Golf Club to open the 2016-17 season and finished sixth with a score of 590 after the tournament had to be shortened to 36 holes due to rain. Andrew Havill led Indiana with a T6 finish and a score of 143 (+1). Doyle joined Havill in the top 20 with a score of 145 that was good for a tie 14th.
Freshman Brock Ochsenreiter also made his college debut at Wolf Run, posting scores of 76 and 77 to tie for 45th.
NEW FACE
Brock Ochsenreiter (pronounced "Oxen-writer), a freshman from Nashville, Tennessee, earned the No. 3 spot in the lineup this week and will make his collegiate debut. He is the two-time defending Division II-AA state champion in Tennessee and finished his junior career with a scoring average of 73.1 in the last 48 events. He also earned Player of the Year honors in 2015 from The Tennessean.
