VERO BEACH, Florida – Senior Andrew Havill opened the Quail Valley Intercollegiate with rounds of 72 and 73, putting him in a tie for 39th through 36 holes at Quail Valley Golf Club. As a team, Indiana is 15th with a total score of 587, just four shots behind 12th place.
Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start that gets underway at 8:45 a.m. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
Havill's opening round 72 featured three birdies and three bogeys before he logged three birdies and four bogeys for a 73 in round two. He excelled on the front nine on day one, playing those holes in 3-under par over the two rounds.
Jake Brown carded one of the two rounds under par on day one for the Hoosiers, opening with a 71 in his first round thanks to three birdies and two bogeys. In round two, he was not able to find as many birdies and finished with a 77. His overall score of 148 puts him in a tie for 53rd.
Keegan Vea got off to a roller coaster start, going birdie-double bogey-bogey, before settling down to play the next nine holes in 3-under par only to see back-to-back bogeys on holes 7 and 8 derail his momentum. He would finish round one at 2-over par and then posted a 76 in his second round for a total of 150 and a tie for 60th.
Brock Ochsenreiter, who grew up playing junior golf in Florida, had three birdies and just one bogey in round one, but a pair of double bogeys left him with a 2-over par 74 in round one. In round two, he once again logged three birdies but also had four bogeys and a double bogey for a 76 to put him tied for 60th with a score of 150.
Brendon Doyle was the only Hoosier that did not card a birdie in his first round en route to an 81. But he turned that around in a big way in round two, registering six birdies, two bogeys and a triple bogey to better his first round score by 10 shots and post 71. His overall score of 152 has him tied for 70th heading into the final round.
