Hoosiers Fall at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa– Redshirt freshman Kendall Beerman led the Hoosiers with 14 kills and hit .500 in the match, but Indiana fell in three sets (24-26, 19-25, 14-25) at Iowa on Saturday.
Senior Taylor Lebo tallied six digs for the Hoosiers and freshman Victoria Brisack led Indiana with 28 assists.
The Hoosiers (12-7, 1-5) controlled the majority of the first set and tallied 14 kills, but made six attack errors and five service errors in the set. Beerman led the Hoosiers in the first set with eight of her 14 kills.
The Hoosiers had a set point at 24-23 after a kill from senior Allison Hammond, but after calling a timeout the Hawkeyes (14-4, 4-2) scored three straight points to win the set, 26-24.
Indiana struggled to find momentum in sets two and three as they hit .071 and .080 compared to .526 and .636 of the Hawkeyes.
The Hoosiers held an advantage in blocking against Iowa and had five blocks in the first set. Senior Jazzmine McDonald had four blocks for the Hoosiers and recorded her 200th career block. Freshman Deyshia Lofton also recorded four blocks for Indiana.
Up next the Hoosiers return home to host a pair of Big Ten opponents. Indiana will welcome Rutgers on Friday Oct. 14 and battle Penn State on Saturday Oct. 15.
