BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Coming off of the Big Ten Championships, Indiana will host the Hoosier Invitational on Friday afternoon.
IU had a solid showing in the Big Ten Championships. The women's team finished eighth, but the highlight of the meet was the eye-popping improvement shown by Katherine Receveur. The sophomore finished 70th a season ago in this meet, but, through great preparation and intense training, she was the conference runner-up this season.
The men's team finished third behind three top eight finishers. Senior Jason Crist capped off an incredible four-year run at the Big Ten meet with a third place finish, his fourth straight top-nine finish. He became just the fourth IU runner since 1985 to garner four All-Big Ten honors. Fellow senior, Matt Schwartzer, finished just behind Crist, taking fourth to earn First-Team All-Big Ten. Unanimous Freshman of the Year, Ben Veatch crossed in eighth, the fastest freshman in the race, and earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
Just five days removed from the Les Bolstad Golf Course, IU will be back at home for the final time this season. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m. followed by the men's race at approximately 4:00 p.m.
