Hoosiers Host No. 22 Ohio State Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – With seven matches to go in the regular season the Indiana volleyball team will host the No. 22 Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at University Gym.
IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said she likes the way the team is playing, after the win against Michigan and playing No. 2 Minnesota very tough on Wednesday night in Minneapolis.
"We are playing with a lot of confidence," she said. "We are starting to play our best volleyball of the season. I'm proud of our kids and happy with the direction the team is going right now."
A Battle in Minneapolis
The Hoosiers dropped a three set match at No. 2 Minnesota on Wednesday, but IU head coach Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan said she was very encouraged by what she saw from her team.
Senior middle blocker Jazzmine McDonald led the Hoosiers with her second straight match with double-digit kills as she had 13 and hit .600 in the match. Freshman middle blocker Deyshia Lofton had a career-high 10 kills and added five blocks in the match.
A Look Back at Win Over Wolverines
The Hoosiers picked up a key win on Saturday Oct. 29 in four sets over No. 13 Michigan. The Hoosiers came out on fire in the first set as they hit .500 and won the opening set, 25-14. Senior Jazzmine McDonald led the Hoosiers with a career-high 15 kills and 10 blocks and hit .700 in the match. Redshirt freshman Kendall Beerman added 14 kills and hit .440 for the match.
Records and Milestones
After missing six matches due to injury, senior setter Megan Tallman made her return to the court on Friday Oct. 28 against Michigan State. In the match Tallman set a new IU school record for career assists in the rally-scoring era. Tallman currently has 3,553 assists, which is 20th among active players in the NCAA and second among active players in the Big Ten.
Senior Taylor Lebo recently passed 1,000 career digs and currently has 1,070 digs, which put her eighth on the Hoosiers all-time list for career digs. On Wednesday at Minnesota Lebo recorded her 128th career ace to the Hoosiers school record for career aces in the rally-scoring era.
Beerman Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week
This week freshman Kendall Beerman was honored by the Big Ten conference by being selected Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Beerman is second on the team in kills with 211 and ranks first in the Big Ten among freshmen in hitting percentage at .281. She ranks fifth among freshmen in the Big Ten in kill per set at 2.85. The honor is the first Big Ten award for Beerman and the first freshman of the week Indiana has had since the 2012 season.
