Indiana University Athletics recognized two student-athletes for the Scholar Athletes of the Month for February.
Luis Chacon-Canales – Sophomore, History, Wrestling
"Luis has always worked hard when it comes to academics, but at times he fell short of his academic goals. That has changed this semester. Luis had a midterm in a history class recently that he was really concerned about. He was unsure of how exactly to prepare for the essay exam. He worked with a tutor and put in countless hours preparing for the exam. Luis felt prepared for the midterm, and ended up doing very well on the exam. He proved that hard work, preparation and dedication really pays off. I have no doubt this small bit of success will continue to motivate Luis for the rest of the semester." –Angie Krilich, Academic Advisor
Siena Patty – Sophomore, Outdoor Recreation, Parks & Human Ecology, Rowing
"Siena is a great example of how finding the right major can help everything else fall into place. Since changing her major to Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Human Ecology Siena has excelled in her courses. She is focused, engaged and enjoys her classes. Siena is now certified as a Wilderness First Responder – you want to have her around if you are out hiking in the woods! In addition to doing well in her courses, Siena is also helping a fellow student-athlete work on his French as she finishes up the last course she needs to complete a minor in the language. I know with her academic plan laid out, Siena will continue to flourish academically." –Angie Krilich, Academic Advisor
