Water Polo Hosts Fluid Five
After 16 games away from home, the 16th ranked Hoosiers are anxious to finally play at Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. They play host to the annual Fluid Five Invitational. This weekend will cap off the non-conference portion of the season.
Indiana (11-5) will play four games over a three day span. The weekend will kick off with a 7:00PM start when IU takes on Sonoma State (8-9). Indiana will play two games on Saturday, the first against CSU East Bay (10-7) at 9:00AM followed by a battle against Mercyhurst at 1:00PM. They will close out the weekend with a dual against Gannon (3-7) on Sunday at 10:00AM. Indiana is a perfect 43-0 all-time against this weekend's competition.
Sarah Myers will be the likely candidate to handle the sprinting duties for the Hoosiers. She leads the team in both attempts (48) and successful sprints (36) to go along with her 13 goals and 19 assists on the season.
Indiana's offense is led by Kelly Matthews and Candyce Schroeder. Matthews leads the team in goals (42), assists (29), and points (71). Schroeder is second on the team in goals with 33 while shooting 43.4 percent.
The Hoosier defense is led by Karrie Kozokar, Kate Pipkin, Jennifer Beadle, and will be anchored by Mary Campbell. Kozokar leads the team in steals with 27, Pipkin is just off the lead with 26, and Beadle has 21 steals to her credit. Campbell is coming off of an exceptional weekend in which she stuffed a school record 25 shot attempts in the UC-San Diego matchup. This effort led to her being named the GoIU Student-Athlete of the week.
