Indiana Qualifies Five for Saturday Finals at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA – The No. 13-ranked Indiana University women's swimming and diving team had another great prelims session on Saturday morning at the 2016 NCAA Championships in Atlanta.
The Hoosiers qualified five swimmers for the evening finals, including three for the Championship Finals.
200 Backstroke
Kennedy Goss continued her great NCAA performance this week, qualifying second overall for the Championship Final in the 200 backstroke. Goss timed in with a personal-best mark of 1:50.85 – the fourth-fastest time in Indiana history.
Marie Chamberlain finished 47th overall with a time of 1:57.36.
200 Breaststroke
In the 200 breaststroke, Indiana's freshman duo of Lilly King and Miranda Tucker were again spectacular, qualifying first and second overall for the Championship Final.
King will be seeded No. 1 for Saturday night's final, setting the Georgia Tech Pool record held by Tucker just minutes earlier with her time of 2:06.43. King's time is the second-fastest in IU history.
Tucker tied for the No. 2 seed with UMBC's Emily Escobedo with her then-pool record time of 2:06.82. Tucker's time is the fifth-fastest all-time at Indiana.
200 Butterfly
Indiana qualified a pair of swimmers for the Consolation Final of the 200 butterfly on Saturday night.
Gia Dalesandro qualified 10th overall with a time of 1:54.90 – the fourth-fastest time in Indiana history. Bailey Pressey had a great swim, tying for 14th overall with a personal-best time of 1:55.85. Pressesy's time ranks her as the fourth-fastest 200 fly swimmer in school history.
400 Freestyle Relay
In the 400 freestyle relay, the Hoosier team of Gabriela Rajic, Holly Spears, Grace Vertigans and Kennedy Goss placed 24th overall with a time of 3:17.67.
Platform Dive
In the platform dive, Michal Bower wrapped up her first NCAA Championships appearance by placing 21st with a score of 239.20.
Senior Lacey Houser finished her NCAA Championships with a 29th place finish in the platform dive, scoring a 216.00.
The 2016 NCAA Championships will come to a close for the Hoosiers on Saturday night at 6 p.m. with the finals of the 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 1,650 freestyle.
