Hoosiers Fall at No. 12 Northwestern

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team fell 4-0 on the road at No. 12 Northwestern on Sunday at the Combe Tennis Center.
Northwestern won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to claim the doubles point and build a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Wildcats (16-2) won four out of six first sets against the Hoosiers (4-12). Freshman Antonio Cembellin won his first set 7-5 and led 6-5 in set two when the match was halted. Junior Matthew McCoy also took his opening set 7-6 and was at a 4-4 score in his second set when the match was stopped.
Northwestern earned straight set victories at No. 5 and No. 3 singles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. At No. 1 singles No. 50 Sam Monette came back from a set one loss to win the second set 6-2, but ultimately fell 6-3 in the third set as Northwestern clinched the match.
Elsewhere sophomore Raheel Manji responded after dropping his first set 6-2 to win his second set by the same score. Manji led 4-2 in the third set when the match was stopped.
Up next the Hoosiers travel to Michigan to take on Michigan on Friday (6 p.m.) and Michigan State on Sunday (12:00 p.m.). The Hoosiers are next at home on Friday April 8 for a 6:00 p.m. match against Ohio State.
