Sparrow Paces IU After 36 Holes of Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana – The Indiana men's golf team registered team scores of 300 and 302 in the first two rounds of the Boilermaker Invitational at the Kampen Course, leaving them in a tie for 13th with a total score of 602.
Redshirt freshman Jack Sparrow, who is competing as an individual, posted the top score of the day for Indiana at 147 with rounds of 73 and 74 to his credit. Sparrow started his day on the 18th hole and posted a double bogey to open round one. But he played the remaining 17 holes in 1-under par with three birdies and two bogeys. Then in round two, he carded four birdies and played his final five holes in 2-under par.
The top score among the five players competing towards the team score belonged to senior Max Kollin and junior Keegan Vea, both of whom checked in with totals scores of 148.
Kollin opened with a 76 in his first round before coming back to card a steady Even par round of 72 in the afternoon. Vea was the model of consistency on the day, logging two rounds of 74 on his day to join Kollin in a tie for 35th individually.
Brendon Doyle stated with a 75 in his first round but struggled to a 78 in the afternoon and is tied for 63rd with his total score of 153.
Jake Brown is tied for 70th after rounds of 75 and 80 on his day and Andrew Havill is in 80th with scores of 81 and 78.
