BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Over one hundred and fifty student-athletes participated in the Varsity Club's 13th annual Thank-A-Thon on Tuesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 14, in the press box of Memorial Stadium. The Varsity Club's Thank-A-Thon week is an opportunity for student-athletes to express their appreciation to donors for their generous contributions to support athletic scholarships.
On Tuesday the 12th, IU Athletics also participated in the first ever IU Day. IU Day was a worldwide, 24-hour celebration of Indiana University and the people who make IU possible. Athletic Director Fred Glass brought the celebration to Memorial Stadium by surprising student-athletes with cake on the first evening of Thank-A-Thon.
Student-athletes participated in four 75-minute sessions during which they made phone calls and wrote letters to donors. A total of 1,666 thank-you calls were made and 1,204 letters were written. Of the phone calls made, student-athletes spoke with 513 donors and left 890 appreciation messages for donors.
