BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team will play its final matches of the regular season this weekend as they host No. 53 Wisconsin on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the IU Tennis Center and Minnesota on Sunday April 24 at 10:00 a.m.
After the match on Sunday, the Hoosiers will honor their five seniors: Sam Monette, Daniel Bednarczyk, Alekzander Davila, Elliott Yee and Chris Essick.
The Hoosiers (9-14, 4-5) have won four consecutive matches and have been victorious in four of their last five Big Ten matches. Most recently IU beat Nebraska and No. 67 Iowa on the road last weekend.
"I like how we are competing and not giving in quickly," IU head coach Jeremy Wurtzman said. "We are a very difficult team at every spot and we are really clicking out there. We are showing a lot of energy and playing good, clean tennis."
Wisconsin has an overall record of 14-6 and a 4-5 mark in Big Ten play, while Minnesota has posted an 8-15 overall record with a 2-7 mark in Big Ten matches. Minnesota most recently earned a 4-3 victory over Penn State, who the Hoosiers beat, 4-0 on April 10 in Bloomington.
The Hoosiers match against Wisconsin on Friday will be streamed live on BTN2GO, the digital platform of the Big Ten Network. See above link to access the video stream.
At the match on Friday there will be free tank tops and pizza while supplies last. On Sunday there will be an inflatable moon bounce.
