BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's tennis will conclude regular season play this weekend with a pair of Big Ten matches in Bloomington. The Hoosiers will take on No. 6 Ohio State (23-2, 9-0) on Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. ET before welcoming Penn State (8-11, 4-5) on Sunday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Sunday's match will be played simultaneously with the men's team match against Minnesota.
IU (14-9, 4-5) comes into the weekend locked in a five-way tie for sixth place in the Big Ten standings with Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue and Penn State. The top 10 teams in the conference earn a berth into the Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament which will begin on April 28 at Michigan State. Outcomes from this weekend will determine seeding position for the conference tournament.
This weekend will also mark the final regular season matches for Indiana senior Sarah McLean. McLean is playing her final collegiate season in Bloomington after stops at FIU and Arkansas prior to landing at IU. The Miami, Fla., native has had a strong year as she leads the team with 23 singles victories while going 17-5 in dual play from mostly the No. 3 singles position.
The Buckeyes are tied for first place in the conference with Michigan as both hold 9-0 records in Big Ten matches. The OSU roster features five players ranked in this week's ITA National Singles Rankings in Francesca Di Lorenzo (No. 4), Sandy Niehaus (No. 75), Olivia Sneed (No. 110), Gabriella De Santis (No. 111) and Anna Sanford (No. 114).
Like Indiana, PSU is part of the five-way tie for sixth place and Sunday's match could very well determine where both IU and Penn State will end up in seeding for next week's Big Ten Tournament.
