Hoosiers Tied For 8th After 36 Holes of Big Ten Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – For the Indiana women's golf team, it was Even par rounds from Erin Harper and Alix Kong that kept the Hoosiers within striking distance heading into Sunday's final round of the Big Ten Championship at The Fort Golf Resort.

Kong, Harper Talk About Saturday's Round

The Hoosiers' team score of 293 on Saturday gives them a team score of 579 (+3) and a tie for eighth place. Although they are in eighth place, they are just nine shots behind the first place team, Northwestern, at 6-under par.

Harper started her day with a birdie on hole No. 1 but bogeys on two of the next three followed by a double bogey had her at 3-over par through the first five holes. But she rallied herself and birdied three of the next four to get back to even par on the round. She steadied things over the remaining eight holes with a bogey and then a birdie on the par 5 16^th hole, where she was able to reach the green in two on her way to an even par round of 72. Her total score of 148 is 4-over par and tied for 41^st.

Kong also had a steady day, going out in 1-over par with two bogeys and one birdie and, after a bogey on No. 10, she hit an iron from the fairway on 13 to 10 feet and made the putt for birdie. Then she stepped on the tee at 14, a par 3, and put her shot to 12 feet, where she once again made birdie to get back to Even par for the round. Kong has a score of 144 over the first two rounds and is Even par, which is tied for 16^th individually.

Joining Kong in a tie for 16^th is senior Camille Chevalier after a 3-over par 75 in round two. Her round saw the native of France post eight pars and one bogey on the front nine but a birdie on the par 5 11^th hole got her back to even. But the rest of the way in was a battle for Chevalier, as a pair of double bogeys derailed the round.

Ana Sanjuan was unable to find a birdie on the front nine and made the turn at 3-over par. But she flipped the script right away on the back nine, as she stuck a short iron to eight feet and made the birdie putt on No. 10 and then followed that up with another birdie on No. 11 to get back to just 1-over par. She was still 1-over par heading to the 17^th hole before back-to-back bogeys to close out the round gave her a 75 in round two. Her total score of 145 is tied for 22^nd.

Theresa-Ann Jedra matched her best round of the season with a 2-over par 74 on Saturday. The round saw her play the front nine in Even par with two birdies and one double bogey. On the back nine, she logged two birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey on her way to a two round total score of 152 and a tie for 60^th.

Pear Siriko carded a 4-over par round of 76 and is tied for 56^th with a total score of 151.
