
Hoosiers Win Sixth Straight

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 win over Minnesota at the IU Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday.
The Hoosiers (11-14) have won six straight matches and six of their last seven Big Ten matches. IU will either be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which starts next Thursday in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Hoosiers won the doubles point for the third straight match as Raheel Manji and Afonso Salgado picked up a 6-1 win and Chris Essick and Stefan Lugonjic won 6-2.
Playing five singles matches to start, since they were sharing courts with the IU women's tennis team, the Hoosiers won each of their five first sets.
On senior day it was senior Sam Monette who gave the Hoosiers their first singles point with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles.
Freshman Antonio Cembellin picked up his 18th win of the season and improved his Big Ten singles record to 5-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore Raheel Manji, who tends to live for big moments, clinched the match for the Hoosiers with a 6-4, 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot.
During their 6-0 run over the last six matches, the Hoosiers have only dropped two team points.
After the match, the Hoosiers honored their seniors: Sam Monette, Daniel Bednarczyk, Alekzander Davila, Chris Essick and Elliott Yee.
Indiana will depart on Tuesday for Minneapolis and will play their first match in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday April 28.
