Hoosiers Host Ohio State for Senior Weekend

Due to the projected weather forecast, the schedule for the weekend has changed. The teams will now play a doubleheader at Friday beginning at 3 p.m. Senior Night festivities will take place prior to the start of the second game. The series will wrap up on Saturday at 1 p.m. Stay tuned to IUHoosiers.com for any further schedule updates.

CHECKING OUT THE COMPETITION
Ohio State enters the weekend having won four of the last five games and ranked No. 25 in this week's ESPN/USA Softball poll. Last week, the Buckeyes took the final two games of the series against Purdue after dropping the first one. Their only other conference losses came in a sweep against Michigan and an April 1 loss against Wisconsin.
The Buckeyes are hitting .302 as a team with six hitting consistenly over .300. Cammi Prantl leads the way with her .374 average, 52 hits, 33 runs and 35 RBI. Alex Bayne is another offensive threat as she is hitting .361 with 45 runs, 48 hits, 45 RBI and 18 homers.
Ohio State has used five pitchers this season, but has seen the most work from the rotation of Shelby Hursh (2.39 ERA, 14-6, 32 app.), Morgan Ray (3.66 ERA, 2-2, 21 app.) and Lena Springer (2.64 ERA, 3-1, 17 app,)
LAST TIME OUT
The Hoosiers traveled to Rutgers over the weekend and dropped all three games. Redshirt senior Shannon Cawley and junior CaraMia Tsirigos both picked up homers during the series.
Indiana hosted Ball State on Wednesday in a midweek battle, picking up a 7-1 victory. Sophomore Emily Kirk earned the win for the Hoosiers, going 6.0 innings with only one run. Sophomore Rebecca Blitz knocked three hits, while sophomore Rachel O'Malley scored three runs to lend run support to Kirk.
SENIOR NIGHT
#1 Shannon Cawley
Cawley hails from Brookfield, Illinois and has played in 203 games with 196 starts heading into this weekend. Shannon Cawley has registered 102 RBI in her career, which is good for fifth all time in Indiana program history. In addition, her 93 runs scored is tied for 10th all time at Indiana. After an injury that saw her miss the 2014 season, Cawley returned in 2015 to put up the best offensive numbers of her career. Cawley is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, a 2015 NFCA Scholar Athlete pick and was named First Team All-Big Ten after her freshman campaign.
#16 Alyssa Rosati
Rosati joined the team in 2014 and has appeared in 105 games as a pinch runner and has made a significant impact on the base paths with her speed. The Clearwater, Florida Native has scored 32 runs in her time in Cream and Crimson, including a career-best 12 this season. Rosati has stolen five bases in her career, including three in 2014.
#22 Kassi Farmer
Farmer has played in 177 games with 157 career starts. The native of Columbia, Illinois has scored 63 runs with 111 hits in her career, including 22 doubles and 15 home runs. Farmer is a three-time NFCA Scholar Athlete selection and has twice been named Academic All-Big Ten. Additionally, she was named a 2014 and 2015 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
#23 Kelsey Dotson
Dotson's 23 career home runs is tied for ninth all-time at Indiana. Last season, Dotson belted 14 homers, which was second most in a single season in program history. The Silver Lake, Indiana native also registered a career-high 46 RBI in 2015 and has 95 runs batted in for her career. Dotson has scored 67 runs in Cream and Crimson on 124 hits, including 27 doubles and 23 homers. She has knocked two grand slams, including a walk-off blast to defeat Ohio State on March 28, 2014. Earlier this season, she hit a walk-off three-run shot as the Hoosiers defeated Holy Cross in 12 innings, 4-1. Dotson was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2014.
#26 Michelle Huber
Huber has appeared in 176 games, making 139 starts. The Carmel, Indiana native has plated 57 runs on 103 hits, including 23 doubles and nine homers with a grand slam against Michigan State last season. Huber has homered twice this year, including solo shots against Indiana State and Purdue. She was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on April 13, 2015 after belting two homers with fours runs and four RBI in a three-game sweep of Penn State. Huber is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and has twice been tabbed for NFCA Scholar Athlete accolades.
#77 Katelyn Conenna
The Addison, Illinois native has played in 86 games, with 41 starts, including a career high 20 starts this season. Conenna has scored 29 runs on 36 hits, including 15 base knocks in 2016. She has hit six homers in the last two seasons, as her first career home run was a grand slam against Rutgers on March 22, 2015. In addition, Conenna is a two-time Academic All Big Ten selection.
NON-CONFERENCE WRAP-UP
Last Wednesday's meeting with Ball State marked the final non-conference game of the year for Indiana. The Hoosiers end the non-conference portion of the schedule with a 18-11 mark, including going 7-3 at home and 11-3 in neutral site locations.
WHAT ELSE IS ON TAP?
Indiana will wrap up the regular season portion of the schedule with a visit to Maryland (May 6-8). Penn State will play host to the Big Ten Tournament beginning on May 12.
