EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana men's tennis team won the doubles point and never looked back with a convincing 6-1 victory at Michigan State on Sunday.
The Hoosiers (5-13) got doubles wins from Daniel Bednarczyk and Elliott Yee 6-2 at No. 3 and Raheel Manji and Afonso Salgado clinched the point with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
Indiana carried the momentum from winning the doubles point as they won all six first sets over Michigan State.
Chris Essick and Elliott Yee gave the Hoosiers points two and three with straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 and a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles by Raheel Manji clinched the match for the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers added two more points with a 7-6, 6-3 win from Bloomington native Matthew McCoy at the No. 3 spot and a three set victory by freshman Antonio Cembellin at No. 4 singles.
Up next the Hoosiers return home for their next three matches. IU will host Ohio State on Friday April 8 at 6:00 p.m. and then a doubleheader on Sunday with Penn State and Butler.
