Hoosiers Finish 4th, 2V8 Takes Bronze at Big Ten Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The No. 14 Indiana rowing team earned a fourth place finish as a team at the Big Ten Championships on Sunday, marking the third consecutive season they have finished fourth.
The top individual crew performance came from the 2nd Varsity Eight, who entered the regatta as the fifth seed, but raced well and crossed the line in third place with a time of 6:31.104 to earn a bronze medal. Ohio State finished first with a time of 6:24.430 and Wisconsin was second at 6:30.012.
The 1st Varsity Eight was seeded fourth among all 1V8's in the Big Ten and that's where they finished on Sunday, posting a time of 6:35.421 to edge Iowa in fifth by half of a second.
The 1st Varsity Four also entered the day seeded fourth and their time of 7:23.720 put them in fourth place in their race, trailing Michigan in third place and 1.7 seconds ahead of Minnesota in fifth.
The 2nd Varsity Four took fifth place in their race, logging a time time of 7:38.285 as they beat Iowa, Michigan State and Rutgers.
The 3rd Varsity Four's time of 7:54.740 registered a fifth place finish as well.
In the novice races, the 1st Novice Eight came in with a seventh place finish (7:04.432) while the 2nd Novice Eight was sixth in a time of 7:27.218.
Following the racing, the All-Big Ten teams were announced and Indiana's Rebecca Brougher picked up First Team honors and Emily Barber was named Second Team All-Big Ten. Hanna Henry was named the team's Sportsmanship Award honoree.
The Hoosiers will now wait for the the NCAA Selection Show on Tuesday, May 17, at 5 p.m. ET to find out if they have earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, California, which take place May 27-29.
