
Indiana Falls to Michigan on the Road

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana men's basketball (14-7, 4-4 Big Ten) fell to Michigan (14-7, 4-4 Big Ten) at the Crisler Center on Thursday night, 90-60.
The Hoosiers were led in scoring by 14 points from junior Robert Johnson, who also pulled down five rebounds. Sophomore Thomas Bryant also scored in double figures with 13 points, shooting 6-of-7 from the field.
Redshirt junior Josh Newkirk added eight points, as did freshman Grant Gelon, setting a new career high.
Michigan jumped to an early 18-4 lead and didn't look back, extending the advantage to 32-13 with 8:41 remaining in the half.
Bryant, who scored nine of his points in the first half, responded with a 7-0 run, knocking in a 3-pointer and a pair of jumpers to cut the deficit just 12 points, but the Hoosiers would get no closer as the Wolverines took a 50-35 lead into the break.
Michigan shot 67 percent from the field in the first half, including 64 percent from 3-point range. Indiana put up a 60 percent shooting performance in the half, but the difference came on points off turnovers, which saw Michigan grab an 18-2 advantage on in the opening period.
The Wolverines' hot shooting continued into the second half as Michigan finished the game 31-of-49 from the field, including 11-of-20 from downtown. Six Wolverines scored in double figures, led by 21 points from Derrick Walton Jr.
Up next, Indiana travels to Northwestern to take on the Wildcats Sunday evening. The game will tip at 6:30 p.m. and air on the Big Ten Network.
