Hoosiers Compete In Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – Indiana Women's Cross Country team finished 17th overall while the men's team finished 29th at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course on Friday afternoon.
The women's team finished 17th in the field, coming in behind Big Ten foes Wisconsin (ninth), Minnesota (10th) and Michigan State (11th). IU was led by redshirt junior Katherine Receveur, who was the first Big Ten athlete to cross the finish line in 10th place overall with the time of 20:00.5. The two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Week marked a 14 second improvement from her 6K time at the Sam Bell Invitational on Sept. 30.
Junior Maggie Allen was the second IU runner to cross, finishing with the time of 21:17.5 with redshirt junior, Brenna Calder finishing close behind Allen with the time of 21:19.5. Sophomore Lexa Barrott and junior Haley Harris crossed the finish line with just 4 tenths of a second separating them. The Hoosier scoring was closed by redshirt freshman Stacy Morozov and redshirt sophomore Kelsey Harris.
The men's team finished 29th overall, coming in behind Big Ten opponents Michigan (eighth), Michigan State (10th), Minnesota (12th), Purdue (20th), Wisconsin (25th) and Illinois (28th). IU was led by sophomore Ben Veatch, who was the fifth Big Ten athlete to cross the finish line and placed 28th overall with the time of 24:06.7.
Redshirt junior Kyle Burks was the second IU runner to cross, finishing with the time of 25:05.6 with redshirt sophomore, Kyle Mau finishing close behind Burks with the time of 25:07.9. Redshirt junior Joe Murphy, redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar and redshirt freshman Cooper Williams closed out the Hoosier scoring.
Overall team winners for the race were New Mexico (women) and Northern Arizona (men) in a meet that featured 33 women's teams and 35 men's teams.
Sophomore Grace Walther, finished tenth overall in the women's 6K B race with a time of 21:20.3 with a pace of 5:44. Redshirt freshman Marcus Ellington crossed the finish line first for IU in the men's 8K B race with a time 26:17.8. Redshirt freshmen Cameron Clements and Teddy Browning closed out the men's 8K B race.
The Hoosiers will be back in action the last weekend of this month on Sunday, October 29 where they will host the Big Ten Championships at the IU Championships Cross Country Course.
