Hoosiers Fall at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Deyshia Lofton led Indiana with 12 kills and hit .476, but the Hoosiers fell in three sets (17-25, 28-30, 21-25) on the road at Ohio State on Saturday at St. John Arena.
Junior Elizabeth Asdell tallied nine kills and hit over .400 for her second straight match at .438.
Lofton paced the Hoosiers (12-12, 1-11) with four kills on five swings in the first set and Ally Badowski and Asdell added three each. Ohio State hit .414 with 16 kills in set one and they won it 25-17.
The Hoosiers rebounded in the second set as they went up 10-5 on one of Kendall Beerman's seven kills in the match. The Hoosiers led 20-15, but Ohio State came back to tie it at 25-25. Tied 28-28, an Indiana attack error and Buckeye kill gave Ohio State the second set victory.
The Hoosiers again came out strong in set three as they got out to a 5-1 lead on a kill by Lofton. Indiana led 12-7, but Ohio State used a 5-0 run to tie it at 12-12.
The Hoosiers stayed close to Ohio State as they trailed 18-17, but the Buckeyes went up 22-18 and the Hoosiers could not mount a comeback as they fell in the third set, 25-21.
Up next Indiana will go on the road at Iowa and Nebraska next week, with Iowa on Nov. 3 and at Nebraska on Nov. 4.
