Hoosiers Head to NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country heads to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Friday at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
The women's 6K race will begin at 11:15 a.m. EST and the men's 10K race will begin at 12:15 p.m. EST. You can access live results at TimingMD.net or watch stream live on FloTrack. A total of 33 women's teams and 297 athletes and 30 men's teams and 268 athletes will compete in the race.
The women's team currently ranks sixth in the Great Lakes Region, moving up one spot from the preseason rankings. There are six Big Ten nationally ranked women's teams competing in this regional championship. No. 8 Michigan, No. 13 Minnesota, No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 19 Penn State, No. 21 Michigan State and No. 25 Ohio State.
The IU's women's team will be led by redshirt junior Katherine Receveur who won the Big Ten Championships on Oct. 29, setting a 6K course record on the IU Championships Cross Country Course. The win earned her a All-Big Ten First Team honors while she won Big Ten Athlete of the Week three times in one season. At the 2016 Great Lakes Regional Championship, Receveur finished third overall (19:56.1).
She will be joined by redshirt junior Brenna Calder who was the second IU runner to cross at the Big Ten Championships. Junior Maggie Allen, sophomore Grace Walther, junior Haley Harris, redshirt Kelsey Harris and redshirt freshman Stacy Morozov will round out the field for the Hoosier women.
The men's team currently sits seventh in the Great Lakes Region. There are four Big Ten nationally ranked men's teams competing in this regional championship: No. 10 Michigan, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 25 Wisconsin and No. 30 Illinois.
The men's team will be led by sophomore Ben Veatch who earned All-Big First Team honors with his fourth-place finish at Big Ten Championships. Veatch finished 19th overall last season as a freshman at the Great Lakes Regional Championships.
He will be joined by redshirt sophomore Kyle Mau who was the second IU runner to cross at the Big Ten Championships. Redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar, redshirt junior Joe Murphy, redshirt junior Kyle Burks, redshirt freshman Cameron Clements and redshirt freshman Teddy Browning will round out the field for the Hoosier men.
The top two teams and top four individuals who are not on a qualifying team will advance to the NCAA Championships. Additional teams and individual participants will be chosen through an at-large selection process. The additional teams and individuals will be announced by the NCAA on Saturday, November 11.
The NCAA Championships will take place on Saturday, November 19 in Louisville, Ky. The women's 6K race will begin at 10:45 a.m. EST and the men's 10K race will begin at 11:45 a.m. EST.
