WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indiana Baseball (15-12-2, 3-3-1) fell late to the Purdue Boilermakers, 6-5, on Friday evening in the first of three games from Alexander Field.

Seniors Craig Dedelow and Tony Butler each picked up two hits and an RBI, with Dedelow knocking out his seventh home run of the season. Sophomore Matt Lloyd and freshman Jeremy Houston also collected RBIs in the effort.
Indiana found a fast start to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with senior Alex Krupa taking a leadoff walk and scoring following singles by sophomores Luke Miller and Matt Lloyd. Stiever tossed a quick 1-2-3 third inning to get IU's offense back to the plate in the fourth, which resulted in a two-run inning. A single by junior Logan Sowers and walk to Dedelow set up Butler for an RBI single through the left side. Houston then pushed the score to 4-1 with his own single through the left side.
Dedelow found his seventh home run of the season in the fifth inning by tucking an offering from Tanner Andrews down the right field line, boosting the Hoosiers' lead to 5-1.
Stiever quieted Purdue with a 1-2-3 inning in the fifth, but the Boilermakers got a run back in the sixth to make the score 5-2. Following back-to-back doubles to score Purdue's second run, Krupa picked up an outfield assist with a 7-2 play at the plate. The Hoosiers' defense continued picking up Stiever in the seventh with sophomore Ryan Fineman tossing out a would be base stealer.
Purdue threatened with its first three batters reaching base in the eighth inning and went on to take a 6-5 lead with a four-run frame.
