Hoosiers Ready To Compete at Olympia Fields

CHICAGO – For the Indiana men's golf team, the second tournament of the season takes them to Olympia Fields Country Club North Course for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. The tournament starts on Friday and continues through Sunday with the 15-team field playing 18 holes each day.
he 2017-18 season for the Indiana University men's golf team gets underway on Friday as the Hoosiers host the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Indiana. The event is slated for 54 holes with the 16-team field playing 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will also be 10 students competing as individuals to bring the total field to 90 golfers.

Last season, Indiana finished 14th at Olympia Fields with a team score of 885 (+45) just four shots behind 10th place, which is where Indiana entered the final round. Andrew Havill carded the best individual score for IU with a 216 while Brendon Doyle was one shot behind at 217. Current team members Brock Ochsenreiter (223) and Jake Brown (229) also competed last year.
INDIANA FINISHES 11TH AT WOLF RUN; SHEPHERD TIES FOR 18TH
The Hoosiers opened the 2017-18 season by hosting 16 teams at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate and finished 11th as a team. The top individual performer for IU was freshman Ethan Shepherd, who was making his collegiate debut and finished tied for 18th with a score of 223. Jake Brown tied for 23rd with a score of 225 to give the Hoosiers a pair of Top 25 finishes.
