
Cross Country Finishes Third at Intercollegiate

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana University cross country teams competed in the 78th annual Indiana Intercollegiate Championships Meet on the campus of Purdue University this afternoon. The meet pitted IU against many Division I programs in the state, including host Purdue, Ball State and Indiana State.
The women's team finished third in the Big State race, scoring 70 points. Grace Walther was the top Hoosier finisher, taking sixth with a 6k time of 22:47.3. Joely Pinkston was the second IU runner to cross, finishing 17th overall and 13th among Big State competitors. Mallory Mulzer, Amy Smith and Kendell Wiles closed out the Indiana scoring.
The men's team did not register a team score as not all five runners that started the race finished the race. Teddy Browning was the first Hoosier to cross the 8k finish line, taking 15th place overall, 12th in the Big State race. Browning recorded a time of 26:47.8. Cameron Clements was the next IU athlete to finish the race, nabbing a 22nd overall finish. Adam Wallace was the final Hoosier to cross the finish line.
Indiana will be back in action a week from today at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown. Hosted by Boston College, the meet will be highly competitive, and will include several nationally ranked programs, including Providence and Syracuse.
