BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Hoosier cross country teams, fresh off of earning rankings of 18th on the women's side and 21st on the men's side, will head east to the campus of Boston College. A total of 23 teams will compete in the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown, including Big Ten foes Illinois and Rutgers. Nationally ranked teams Syracuse, Providence and Georgetown will make for great competition for the Hoosier squad.
The women's 5,000m race is slated for a 3:00 p.m. EST start time with the men's 8,000m race following at 3:30 p.m. EST. The final race of the afternoon will be the combined men's and women's 5k, slated for a 4:15 p.m. EST beginning.
IU's women's team will be aided by the return of Katherine Receveur. After resting during the first couple of meets of the season, the All-American is back. The last time Receveur was on the cross country course, she nabbed an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. She will be joined by Maggie Allen and Brenna Calder, both upperclassmen that figure to have breakout seasons this year. Rounding out the Hoosier attack will be Lexa Barrott, Haley Harris, Kelsey Harris and Stacy Morozov.
The men's team will once again be paced by sophomore Ben Veatch. The Carmel native was tremendous in his 2017 debut, winning the IU Open. Kyle Mau and Kyle Burks both turned in strong performances, securing second and third place respectively. Middle distance ace Cooper Williams was a welcomed addition to the top-five, taking fourth. With Joe Murphy and Bryce Millar back in the mix, IU will be setup for another great season.
