No. 1 Hoosiers Host Santa Clara on Saturday Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 1-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will host the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday night in Bloomington, Ind.
Kickoff at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET., with live stats available at IUHoosiers.com. The match will be streamed live via BTN Plus on BTN2Go.com.
SETTING THE SCENE
• The No. 1-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team will host the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday night at Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.
• The Hoosiers enter Saturday's contest with a 7-0-2 record on the season overall after taking down No. 7-ranked Notre Dame, 1-0, on Tuesday night. Austin Panchot scored the match-winner for the Hoosiers in the 67th minute.
• Freshman goalkeeper Trey Muse has played well this season, posting seven shutouts while allowing just two goals with 21saves.
• Junior Andrew Gutman, junior Cory Thomas and freshman Mason Toye lead the Hoosiers with three goals each, while Thomas and Toye have a team-best seven points on the year.
• Freshman Thomas Warr leads the Hoosiers with three assists on the season.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
• The Santa Clara Broncos enter Saturday's match with the Hoosiers with an overall record of 0-8 on the season.
• Santa Clara has played a very difficult schedule this year, with losses Maryland, West Virginia and Washington among others.
• In a preseason poll conducted of the league's coaches, Santa Clara was picked to finish seventh out of eight teams in the West Coast Conference.
• Senior D Valdemar Andersen was named to the 2017 All-WCC Preseason team for the Broncos.
• Last season, Santa Clara finished with an overall record of 5-10-1.
• The Broncos have already scored more goals this season (11) than they did in all of 2016.

HISTORICALLY STINGY DEFENSE
• Through the first nine matches of the season, Indiana has allowed just two goals - the fewest since the team allowed two in eight games in 1979.
• The 1979 Hoosiers surrendered just two goals in the first 14 matches of the season.
• The seven shutouts in the first nine matches is also the first for the team since the 1979 season.
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
• Indiana's offense has been one of the most potent in the nation, scoring 20 goals through the team's first nine matches.
• The 20 goals scored in the first nine matches are the most for the team since 2005.
• Through nine matches in 2016, IU had scored 11 goals.
THOMAS ON A ROLL
• Junior Cory Thomas is enjoyed the best scoring stretch of his career, scoring three goals and recording an assist in back-to-back matches.
• Thomas scored two goals, including the match winner against Rutgers and had a goal and an assist at Northwestern.
• Thomas was named to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week on Sept. 25.

• Indiana has started the season undefeated through nine matches for the second-straight year and for the 11th time in program history.
• The Hoosiers are looking to remain undefeated through the team's first 10 matches for the ninth time in school history.
• IU's 4-0 start was the first for the team since 2004 and marked the seventh time in program history IU accomplished the feat.
