Indiana Heads to LA for ITA Kick-Off Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team travels to Los Angeles, Calif. for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend hosted by USC at Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Schedule
Friday, January 26 at 5:00 PM ET
Indiana at No. 5 USC
Saturday, January 27 at 1:00 PM or 5:00 PM ET
Indiana vs. UC Santa Barbara or SMU
Last Meeting
This will be the second time in program history IU will play USC, the first matchup coming on Jan. 29, 2011 when the Trojans were No. 2 in the country.
If the Hoosiers were to face UCSB, it would be their third ever matchup. The Gauchos took down IU 5-2 on March 20, 1993 and beat the Hoosiers 6-1 on March 6, 1994.
If slated with SMU on Saturday, the Hoosiers will face the Mustangs for the fourth time in program history.

• March 14, 1989 at #25 SMU, 6-3 SMU
• Feb. 12, 1988 vs. SMU, 6-2 SMU
About the Trojans
No. 5 USC opens its 2018 dual play campaign with the Hoosiers on Friday night after coming off a 2017 season in which they 27-6 overall and 16-0 at home. Last season came to an end for the Trojans with a loss in the NCAA Championships.
In the last ITA rankings, Brandon Holt was No. 13 and Logan Smith came in at No. 49.
About the Gauchos
UCSB will play its first match of the season on Friday against SMU. The Gauchos finished with a 19-6 record in 2017 and fell in the NCAA Tournament to Ole Miss.
About the Mustangs
After three matches on the year, SMU is 1-2 with a win against Abilene Christian and losses to Harvard and Texas.

Looking Ahead
Next week, the Hoosiers host two matches inside the IU Tennis Center. On Friday, Feb. 2, Dartmouth comes to Bloomington for a match at 6 PM. Two days later, IU plays Arizona at home with first serve at Noon.
